Although the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped has provided audio books to eligible readers since 1931 on record and since 1970’s on cassette, audio books in the mainstream library market did not become popular until the 1980s.
Later, libraries started offering audio books on CD. It was not really until 2004-2005 that libraries began offering patrons access to downloadable digital audio books. |
